3.2.6 Consistent Help

Help mechanisms that appear on multiple pages appear in the same relative place on each.

Manual only No automated check says anything useful.

How it fails in practice

A support chat bubble bottom-right on most pages and buried in the footer on checkout — the one page where people need it.

How to fix it

Put help in one place in the template and leave it there. Consistency is the whole criterion.

How far an automated check gets

Nothing automatic decides this. A scanner that reports it as passing is reporting that it did not look. It stays untested until a person tests it and records what they did — which is exactly how we treat it: as untested, not as passed.
